Learning Objectives

  • Know the 6 links in the Chain of Infection and how to break the links to prevent infection.
  • Know how to perform a risk assessment to determine the appropriate infection prevention measures to decrease the risk of transmission and exposure to infections.
  • Know how to perform hand hygiene with soap and water as well as hand sanitizer.
  • Know how to recognize approved disinfectants.
  • Demonstrate how to clean and disinfect areas in the residential facility and transportation vehicles.
  • Know how to put on and remove personal protective equipment.
  • Apply infection prevention and control measures in routine daily practices (e.g., medication administration, meal preparation, group activities).
